Character History: "We grew up watching movies where aliens abduct people and violate them and blow up the White House."

Personality: Max is a man both driven and tormented by his sense of responsibility. His memory begins at the age of seven, with hatching from alien pods with two other children in the middle of the desert. From that moment, he's always felt both a desire and drive to protect the people he's identified as his own. In high school, he did it to help cover up the evidence that his sister committed a murder. As an adult, he threw himself into work on the police force, in an attempt to do right in the world after he'd been unable to save one life. The need to do better and be better has kept him driven and tense, though, and he's prone to fits of angry outbursts.

His anger often displays as a flair for machismo. As someone from the American southwest, he's picked up a flair for cowboy aesthetics. He speaks with a drawl, he walks with a swagger, and he can be stuck in some deeply entrenched ideas of traditional gender roles. His siblings are trying to teach him about alternative gender options and explorations, but his adaptation is slow and not entirely progressive. He means well, but he's about as woke as your Dad.

His softer side is preoccupied with gentler pursuits, though. He enjoys reading literature, and once fancied himself a creative writer. When he loves, he loves intimately. He's spent the last decade of his life holding a flame for his high school crush, and that doesn't seem to be tapering off any time soon.

Suit Preferences: There has never been a Spade-ier Spade. Max is the eldest of his alien "siblings," has taken a leadership role in both his personal and public life as a police officer, and has recently discovered that he's known among alien society as "the savior." He's flanked on all sides by the pull of responsibility, and responds best to an environment filled with law and order.

Powers/Abilities: As a literal alien, Max comes along with a few tricks. His canonpoint is early enough that none of them are particularly refined or perfected, though a canon update would strengthen them fairly substantially.

Electromagnetic Energy Manipulation: Max is attuned to electricity in the air and in people, and is kind of a siphon. His emotions have caused brownouts since he was a child, and he's been known to cause EMP disruptions when releasing pent-up anger or pain. When he focuses, he can deliberately carry enough of a current to create a lightning-like jolt of power, which usually leaves fractal burns on whatever surface has been impacted.

Healing: Max has the ability to heal superficial wounds in others, usually at the cost of his own well-being. In short, to heal, he muse accept suffering into his body. The destructive force leaves him restless and irritable, and usually requires some kind of violent release before he can again feel at ease.

Both of the above powers have been shown to function in a reverse (draining energy and absorbing life from others), but Max has not mastered those abilities at his current canonpoint.
